Description of the Prior Art Apparatuses for measuring the relative velocity between a liquid drop and a solid surface are used in applications such as a liquid chromatography, a liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy, a micro liquid chromatography, a laser diffraction particle sizer, and the like. An apparatus of this type is provided with a target formed with a plurality of, for example, fine grooves on a solid plate and a liquid drop is supplied to the target. In this apparatus, the position of a liquid drop received by each groove of the target is detected by a camera or an imaging device and the detection result is displayed on a monitor. Thereby, the relative velocity between the liquid drop and the solid plate is detected. There are two methods to measure the relative velocity between a liquid drop and a solid plate. One of them is a method in which the grooves are formed in a concave form. The liquid drop is placed on the surface of a target having the concave grooves, and the movement of the liquid drop received by each concave groove of the target is detected. The other method is a method in which the grooves are formed in a convex form. The liquid drop is placed on the surface of a target having the convex grooves, and the movement of the liquid drop received by each convex groove of the target is detected.
